Our Wellington Firebirds and Blaze are passionate about supporting the local Wellington community and we endeavour to send our players to cricket and non-cricket events in the community throughout the season.
Our players have represented the Firebirds and Blaze in the community in a number of ways, including local charity events, appearing at local club trainings and prizegivings and attending corporate events to support the Wellington business community.
Cricket Wellington receive many requests for player appearances each year from a wide variety of organisations and causes, schools and community groups. Whilst we endeavour to fullfill as many requests as possible, we cannot guarantee to fulfill every request because of the level of demand.
Player appearance request criteria:
For a request to be considered, it must meet the following criteria:
• Show a clearly defined role for the player(s) at the event
• Have an appointed person leading the event (i.e not the player)
• An appearance must not exceed three hours, excluding travel time
• Activities with the risk of injury will not be considered
Post-event
If a request is approved, following the event CW may ask for material and/or photos from the appearance featuring our players in the community. These photos and/or material may be used on CW's websites, publication pieces or in match day promotions.
