Coming off a managed rest period in Round 1 of the Ford Trophy, Nathan Smith, the second-top wicket taker in the Plunket Shield, rejoins the team for their trip to Hamilton.

Smith will join the side in place of Ollie Newton who is resting for this fixture as he continues ramping himself up for the summer.

The team travels to Hamilton today to take on Northern Districts in Round 2 of the Ford Trophy tomorrow, looking to draw from the positives of Saturday’s loss in Canterbury.

Adam Milne headlined the outing at Hagley Oval, taking 5/24 in his return to the squad, while Tim Robinson made his second half-century in as many appearances this season, making a strong case for the opening spot.

The BLACKCAPS two-test series in Bangladesh will start this afternoon, which will see Tom Blundell, Devon Conway, and Rachin Ravindra remain unavailable for selection for the duration of the series.

Muhammad Abbas is unavailable for selection due to the same hand injury that kept him out of Round 1. Ollie Newton is the other contracted player unavailable for selection.

The Firebirds will take on Northern Districts at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Wednesday 29th November, with the first delivery scheduled for 10:30am, though some rain is expected in the early morning.

Live scoring and streaming will be available on the NZC website.
