The Firebirds have completed the signing of Sam Mycock, who has been awarded the sixteenth and final domestic contract for the 2024/25 summer. Mycock was the leading run scorer in Provincial A Men’s cricket last season, posting an impressive 485 runs in his six innings of work.

Sam Mycock, having featured in the Cricket Wellington Pathways system at both age-group and representative levels, is a top-order bat capable of batting for long periods of time and at good tempo, with a healthy strike rate of 82.93 for Hutt District in Premier Men’s red ball cricket this last summer.

Firebirds’ Head Coach, Shane Jurgensen was excited for his team to come together in just over a month’s time.

“We think Sam is a great fit for the squad. He’s a calm batsman at the crease and a good guy to be around.”, he said.
“The numbers speak for themselves at [Provincial A] level last season, we think he’s got the capability to be a good performer at the next level.”
“It’s an exciting time for us, we’re looking forward to getting the guys together and getting ready for a new challenge”, said Jurgensen.

The Firebirds pre-season preparations are set to begin on Monday September 2nd for the 2024/25 season.
