Gareth Severin, Liam Dudding, and Jesse Tashkoff have all been included in the Firebirds 12-man squad to take on Otago in tomorrow’s last Ford Trophy fixture of the year.

The tournament will break until the new year after this weekend, when the focus will shift to red ball cricket as the Plunket Shield gets underway in just over a week’s time.

Our Sri Lanka-bound BLACKCAPS exit the squad as their departure date nears, with Nathan Smith and Tim Robinson shortly due to join up with the national side after their final test match against India.

James Hartshorn is the other player to give way in the squad, with the ongoing rotation of pacemen keeping the bowling stocks fresh, a benefit of the deep squad the team has.

With two wins, a rainout, and a loss in the first four, the team has a chance to put themselves in a commanding position in the one-day competition going into the break.

Otago has been a tough matchup for the Firebirds in recent times, with ex-Firebirds Luke Georgeson playing a significant part, taking two 5-wicket hauls against his former team last year.

Watch Round 5 of the Ford Trophy live from 10:30am on Sunday 3rd November as the Wellington Firebirds take on the Otago Volts at University of Otago Oval in Dunedin.
