Coming off the back of a three-day win at home against Canterbury to kick off the summer, the Firebirds squad is unchanged heading to Nelson to take on the defending champion Central Stags.

Nick Greenwood, fresh off his highest First-Class score last weekend, brings a new-look to the top of the batting lineup which was shaken up with Tom Blundell’s late departure to India.

Saxton Oval in Nelson will play host to this second-round matchup between two Round 1 victors, which will go a long way to determining an early-season frontrunner in the four-day competition.

Ben Sears took his 50th First-Class wicket in the Round 1 game against Auckland, forming half of a potent opening bowling duo with Nathan Smith that took 11 match wickets.

With the ODI World Cup still ongoing in India, Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Tom Blundell, and Logan van Beek remain unavailable for selection.

Our Round 2 matchup is scheduled to begin at 10:30am on the 28th of October. The forecast is mostly clear for the four days of the match, with the potential for minor disruptions in the latter half of the game.
